Longis Bay, Alderney

The most popular way to get to the island is to fly as there is no real car or passenger ferry to the island from the UK.

Flights can get booked up in the summer as the planes, whether direct from the UK or from the other islands, take a maximum of 16 people.

There is currently only one airline that flies into the island, as follows:-

AURIGNY (pronounced aureeny)  Tel: 01481 822886

* Flights to Alderney direct from Southampton

* Flights also from Manchester, Leeds Bradford, East Midlands, London Gatwick, Bristol, London City or London Stansted which connect to Alderney via Guernsey

* Car parking is available at Southampton Airport, cheaper if you pre-book (  Allow a bit of extra time as you have to get a courtesy bus to the terminal

* The train station is at Southampton airport so no need for taxi

Other airlines like Flybe and Blue Islands fly into Guernsey and then you can buy flights with Aurigny from Guernsey to Alderney.  If you choose to go this route it is a good idea to leave yourselves a couple of hours between connections in case of weather delays.  You can also fly into Jersey but from Jersey you have to go via Guernsey to get to Alderney anyway. are now operating and can currenty fly from the UK, Guernsey and Cherbourg. Car and passenger ferry:-

Alderney Shipping has been serving the island with cargo boats from Guernsey and the UK for many years.

A service has recently been introduced whereby passengers may travel with their vehicles to Alderney from Poole.  The outbound ferry from the UK leaves Poole on Mondays around Midday, and the return trip departs Alderney on Wednesdays in the afternoon.  The passenger fare from the UK is approx £110 return and the crossing takes approximately 6 hours (weather dependent).  Vehicles are priced according to weight and length.  Contact Alderney Shipping for more information on 01481 822231.

Passenger ferry:

A new passenger ferry service has been launched for the summer of 2018 and will be running a twice daily service between Alderney and Guernsey called The Little Ferry Company
